GEO Agency Singapore

Generative Engine Optimization for Singapore businesses: being the source AI answers quote, not just a link on page one.

Evidence first

Ask ChatGPT for pet-friendly co-living in Singapore and our client’s site is named first. Nothing was submitted to OpenAI, and no AI directory was paid. Separately, an automotive client’s comparison page was cited in a Google AI Overview within days of going live. Both came from the same method, described below.

The two results, and what produced them

Named first by ChatGPT

The co-living case study reached average position 1.0 to 1.4 on its target niche terms in about six months, with 80.6% of engaged sessions arriving organically. The AI citation followed from that rather than from anything AI-specific: the site ranks well for the exact terms behind the question, its pages state plainly what the business is in language that can be lifted directly into an answer, and the same facts corroborate elsewhere on the web.

That is the whole mechanism. There is no submission step and no directory to buy into.

Cited in a Google AI Overview

The automotive case study earned an AI Overview citation on a comparison page within days of launch. Comparison content does well here because it answers a question directly and factually, which is exactly what a generated answer needs to quote. We publish that case study with an explicit caveat: six days is an indexing signal, not a settled result, and we will update it whichever way it goes.

If you want the mechanics of that surface specifically, we wrote them up in Google AI Overviews for Singapore businesses.

Past performance is illustrative only. AI engines control their own outputs and change them without notice, and responses vary by account, location and date. These examples are not a prediction of your results, and AI citations are never guaranteed.

What GEO is

Generative Engine Optimization is the work of making a business readable, quotable and attributable to AI answer engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini and whatever follows them. The buyer asks a question in plain language and gets a composed answer citing a small number of sources. GEO is the work of being one of them.

How GEO differs from SEO

SEOGEO
Competing forA position in a list of linksBeing the source quoted inside a generated answer
How many winTen on page one, plus scrollingOften one to three cited sources, with no second page
Measured byRank tracking and Search ConsolePrompt testing and observation. No official reporting exists
RewardsRelevance and authorityThe same, plus clarity, structure and corroboration across sources
Failure modePage twoNot mentioned at all

The disciplines overlap far more than the labels suggest, which is the practical point: strong SEO is close to a prerequisite for GEO, because engines draw on pages they can already find and trust. Anyone selling GEO as an alternative to SEO is describing something that does not work. For the longer explainer, see what GEO is, and how ChatGPT chooses sources covers assistant behaviour specifically.

How we structure content for AI retrieval

  • Answer-first writing. Each page and section opens with a direct, quotable answer to a real question, then expands. An engine composing an answer needs a sentence it can lift without ambiguity. This single habit does more than any other.
  • Entity clarity. One canonical description of who the business is, what it sells and where it operates, used consistently everywhere, so an engine can resolve the entity rather than guess between conflicting versions.
  • Structured data. Schema markup that makes the meaning explicit rather than leaving it to be inferred from layout, with one organisation entity referenced across every page rather than repeated and drifting.
  • Corroboration. The same facts appearing consistently across the site and off it. A claim that appears once, in one place, reads as marketing. A claim that agrees with itself everywhere reads as fact.
  • Specificity over volume. Narrow, genuinely answerable questions get cited. Broad category pages compete with everyone and get cited for nothing.
  • Freshness signals. Dated, maintained content, because an engine deciding between two sources will prefer the one that looks current.

Note what is absent from that list. There is no submission step, no AI directory, no schema plugin that does it for you, and no way to pay an engine for placement. If a vendor offers any of those, they are selling access that does not exist.

What is not promised

AI citations cannot be guaranteed by anyone, ourselves included. Engines control their own outputs, change them without notice, and return different sources to different users for the same prompt. What the programme does commit to in writing is the organic side: the Selected Google Page 1 Keyword Guarantee, covering agreed Guaranteed Keywords. Traffic, enquiries, sales, AI Overview placement and assistant citations are explicitly outside it.

How GEO is delivered and priced

GEO is not sold separately. It runs inside the Search Growth Programme, at a one-time S$4,000 SEO + GEO Website & Search Foundation and a fixed S$3,000 a month total budget, which also covers managed SEM, SEO, local SEO, the managed website, analytics, conversion tracking and monthly reporting. Month to month after setup.

Separating GEO into its own engagement would mean paying two teams to make overlapping changes to the same website, which is why nobody serious sells it that way.

Common questions

What is a GEO agency?

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimization: the work of making a business readable, quotable and attributable to AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Gemini. A GEO agency does that work. In practice it is not a separate service from SEO, because the same authority and structure signals feed both, which is why we sell it inside one programme rather than as a bolt-on.

Can you guarantee my business will be cited by ChatGPT?

No, and nobody can. AI engines control their own outputs, they change without notice, and the same prompt can return different sources on different days. What we can do is make your business the kind of source they tend to select: clearly written, factually consistent across the web, well structured, and already ranking for the terms behind the question. Anyone selling guaranteed AI citations is selling something they cannot control.

Is GEO different from SEO?

The disciplines overlap heavily but the target differs. SEO competes for a position in a list of links, where being on page one is the win. GEO competes to be the source quoted inside a generated answer, where there is often only one or two citations and no second page. Strong SEO is close to a prerequisite for GEO, because engines draw on pages they can already find and trust.

Does GEO replace SEO?

No. AI answers are one surface among several, and a large share of searches still produce ordinary results people click. Treating GEO as a replacement means abandoning traffic that still converts. Treating it as irrelevant means missing the surface where buyers increasingly start. The programme funds both from one budget for that reason.

How do you measure GEO?

Imperfectly, and we say so. There is no Search Console for AI citations. We test the prompts a real buyer would use, record which sources are named, and re-test over time. That is observation rather than a rank tracker, and results vary by account, location and date. Google AI Overview appearances are somewhat more observable than assistant citations.

Do I need a separate GEO project?

Usually not. GEO is included in the Search Growth Programme at S$3,000 a month alongside SEM, SEO and the managed website, because separating them would mean paying two teams to make overlapping changes to the same site.
