Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our Search Growth Programme, outsourced DPO services, PDPA compliance and AI training.
General & Pricing
What exactly does DataCare do?
We help Singapore SMEs grow and stay compliant. We offer three core services: the Search Growth Programme (managed SEM, SEO and GEO on a month-to-month subscription, including an SEO-optimised website, hosting, content and monthly reporting), outsourced DPO with PDPA compliance onboarding and ongoing support, and practical AI training for your team.
Why do I need compliance services?
Under Singapore’s PDPA (Personal Data Protection Act), every organization must have a designated Data Protection Officer and proper data handling processes. Non-compliance can result in penalties up to S$1 million. Our services help you meet those obligations, reduce the risk of enforcement action, and build customer trust.
Do your prices include GST/Tax?
All prices shown are before applicable taxes. GST will be added at checkout if applicable to your organization.
How does payment work for the Search Growth Programme?
A one-time S$4,000 setup fee, then a fixed S$3,000 per month while you are subscribed, billed in advance. The monthly figure is a programme fee inclusive of the managed Google Ads spend, so there is no separate media invoice and no percentage-of-spend fee. Cancelling takes 30 days’ notice and the service runs to the end of your paid period. The setup fee and subscription fees are non-refundable; full terms are in our Refund Policy.
How does payment work for Outsourced DPO?
A one-time onboarding fee, then a monthly retainer scaled to headcount: S$1,500 onboarding and S$400 per month for up to 20 staff, S$2,500 and S$600 per month for 21 to 50 staff, and from S$4,000 and from S$900 per month for larger or more complex organisations. Onboarding covers the compliance setup rather than it being sold as a separate project. Subscription fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable; see our Refund Policy.
How does payment work for AI Training?
AI Training is a one-time programme fee rather than a subscription. The two-day on-site programme is US$10,000 for up to 10 participants, payable in full before the scheduled training dates.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept bank transfers and PayNow. We’ll send you an invoice with payment instructions.
Are there any hidden costs I should know about?
No. Our pricing is transparent. The only additional cost is optional domain registration (~S$15–100/year depending on the extension, managed directly with a registrar). Hosting is included in the Search Growth Programme while you are subscribed, so there is no separate hosting fee. Anything outside the agreed scope is quoted before we do it.
Can I get a custom quote?
Absolutely. Every business is different. Contact us with your requirements and we’ll provide a tailored quote.
How quickly can you deliver?
Delivery times vary:
- Search Growth Programme: Audit and site build typically 2–4 weeks; organic results build over 3–6 months
- Outsourced DPO: Appointment takes effect on signing; onboarding compliance work runs over the following weeks
- AI Training: Two full days, scheduled to suit your team
What if I’m unhappy with the service?
We offer a 30-day satisfaction period. If you’re not happy, contact us to discuss. See our Refund Policy for details.
Search Growth Programme
What is the Search Growth Programme?
It is a month-to-month subscription that grows your visibility in both traditional search and AI-assisted search. While you are subscribed we handle SEO and GEO strategy, build and host an SEO-optimised version of your website, keep it maintained within the agreed scope, produce ongoing content and optimisation, and report on results every month.
What is the difference between SEO and GEO?
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is about ranking in traditional search results, the blue links on Google. GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation) is about being found and cited by AI-assisted search: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and similar. They overlap but are not the same job, and increasingly your customers use both. The programme covers both together.
How much does the programme cost?
A one-time setup fee of S$4,000, then a fixed S$3,000 per month while you are subscribed. The setup fee covers the initial audit and building your SEO-optimised website. The S$3,000 is a total budget: it covers the managed Google Ads spend itself plus ongoing SEO and GEO work, hosting, maintenance within the agreed scope, content, and monthly reporting. There is no separate ad-spend invoice and no percentage-of-spend fee.
Do I need my own domain and hosting?
You need to own your domain. If you do not have one yet, we will set it up for you. Hosting for the SEO-optimised site is included in the programme, so you do not need to arrange that separately. You should keep your existing website and hosting active so it remains available as a fallback.
What happens to my existing website?
It stays exactly as it is. We build and host a separate SEO-optimised site and point your domain at it during the programme, while your original website and hosting remain intact as a fallback. We work with any platform: WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, custom builds. Note that you continue to maintain your existing hosting so that fallback stays available.
Do I get a new website as part of the programme?
Yes. Recreating and improving your existing website on DataCare hosting is included: SEO-friendly structure and URLs, mobile and performance optimisation, technical and on-page SEO, structured data, and your existing Call and WhatsApp functions carried over. There is no separate website fee while you are subscribed.
How long before I see results?
Paid search starts working almost immediately: once campaigns are live you are in front of buyers straight away, which is the main reason the programme includes managed SEM rather than SEO alone. The audit and site build typically take 2–4 weeks. Organic results build more slowly. Meaningful movement in rankings and organic traffic usually takes 3–6 months, depending on your competition and how established your site already is. GEO signals can appear sooner: we have seen pages surface in AI results within days of publication. Early signals are encouraging but should not be treated as mature results.
What happens to the Google Ads account if I leave?
It stays with us. Advertising is run through DataCare-owned advertising accounts, so on cancellation the account, its campaign structure and its historical performance data do not transfer to you or to a new provider. We would rather say this plainly up front than have you discover it on the way out. If retaining advertising history matters to you, tell us before the programme starts and we will quote an arrangement that allows it.
Is the S$3,000 an advertising budget you hold for me?
No. It is a programme fee that includes media, not a budget held on your behalf. We decide how much of each month goes to advertising and how much to optimisation work, and that split changes as organic positions take hold and paid spend is no longer needed on those keywords. Every monthly report states the split for that period. Because it is a fee rather than a budget, nothing is refunded or carried forward on the basis of how a given month was divided.
Do you guarantee first-page rankings?
Yes, within limits we put in writing. We guarantee that at least one agreed target keyword will reach Google’s first page of organic results (positions 1–10) within 6 months. After the initial research we agree a list of 5–10 target keywords with you, separating primary competitive keywords from guaranteed opportunity keywords. It is measured on Singapore results using Search Console and our rank-tracking tool rather than a personalised browser session, and “first page” means organic positions only. Ads, Maps and AI Overviews do not count. It requires a continuous subscription and that the site stays under our SEO management. If we miss it, you get an additional month of SEO service with no professional fee. What we do not promise is that a position stays on page one permanently, or a specific position for a keyword chosen after the fact. Full terms.
What do I get each month?
A monthly report covering organic impressions, clicks, keyword and search-query performance, and visibility in AI-assisted search where measurable, plus the actions planned for the following month. Alongside it we continue the work: up to 2 substantial SEO content or page deliverables, on-page improvements to existing service pages, local SEO, technical fixes, competitor monitoring, and tracking of important actions such as Call and WhatsApp clicks where technically possible. Google Business Profile management is not included unless separately agreed.
What happens if I cancel?
Cancel with 30 days’ notice. The service runs to the end of your paid period. After that our SEO and GEO work stops, the SEO-optimised site and its hosting come down, and your original website and hosting go back live, which is why we keep them intact throughout. Your domain remains yours. The setup fee is non-refundable.
PDPA Compliance
What’s PDPA and do I really need to be compliant?
PDPA is Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act. If you collect personal data from customers, employees, or anyone else, you must be compliant. This includes name, email, phone, ID numbers, and more. Yes, you really need compliance. Penalties are up to S$1 million.
What’s included in PDPA Compliance Setup?
Depends on your tier:
- PDPA compliance is no longer sold as a standalone project. The gap analysis, policies, process templates and documentation are delivered as onboarding in your first month of the Outsourced DPO programme.
- Essential (up to 20 staff): S$1,500 onboarding
- Business (21–50 staff): S$2,500 onboarding
- Enterprise (51+ or complex): from S$4,000 onboarding
How long does PDPA setup take?
Typically 4–6 weeks, depending on your business complexity and how quickly you provide required information.
What’s a Data Protection Officer (DPO)?
A DPO is the person responsible for ensuring your organization stays PDPA-compliant. Under PDPA, every organization must have one, either an internal staff member or outsourced (like our service).
Can you help if I already have policies but no documentation?
Yes. We can audit your existing policies, fill documentation gaps, and get you formally compliant. Contact us for a custom quote.
Is compliance a one-time thing?
No. The PDPA requires ongoing compliance: policy updates, staff training, breach monitoring and periodic review. That is why the DPO service is a continuing monthly engagement rather than a project, and why the compliance setup is delivered as onboarding within it rather than sold as a one-off.
What if I have a data breach?
Contact us immediately. Breach response support is included in your outsourced DPO service, with availability scaling by tier: email support on Essential, phone support on Business, and same-day response on Enterprise. We help with containment, PDPC notification where the threshold is met, and recovery.
Outsourced DPO Services
What’s the difference between PDPA Compliance and DPO Services?
PDPA compliance is the obligation; Outsourced DPO is how we deliver it. There is no separate compliance product to buy first. The gap analysis, policies and documentation are delivered as onboarding inside the DPO engagement, and the monthly service then keeps them current, handles access requests, and liaises with the PDPC.
How much is outsourced DPO?
- Essential (up to 20 staff): S$1,500 onboarding, then S$400/month
- Business (21–50 staff): S$2,500 onboarding, then S$600/month
- Enterprise (51+ staff or complex): from S$4,000 onboarding, then from S$900/month
- Onboarding includes the PDPA compliance foundation, so it is not billed separately
What does your DPO do for us?
Your dedicated DPO will:
- Provide ongoing compliance advice and oversight
- Provide PDPC liaison support and guidance on regulatory matters
- Respond to data subject access requests
- Review new projects for compliance
- Conduct vendor due diligence
- Provide breach response support according to the response arrangements of your tier
- Provide compliance review and recommendations on business decisions
What’s the difference between the DPO tiers?
- Essential: Email support (48-hour response), quarterly reviews, basic breach response
- Business: Phone support (next business day response), monthly check-ins, priority breach response
- Enterprise: Same-day response, two on-site visits a year, support with PDPC communications and regulatory inquiries
Can I upgrade my DPO tier later?
Yes, you can upgrade anytime. Just contact us.
What are the options within DPO & Compliance?
One engagement, three tiers. Outsourced DPO puts a named Data Protection Officer in the role: we draft and advise on policies, manage breaches, liaise with the PDPC directly, handle access requests and conduct vendor assessments, and the DPO decides within an agreed scope. Ongoing compliance monitoring is part of that service rather than something bought separately, and the compliance setup is included in onboarding. Tiers are Essential, Business and Enterprise, banded by headcount.
Do I still need PDPA Compliance Setup if I hire you as my DPO?
No. The compliance setup is included in DPO onboarding rather than sold as a prerequisite: the gap assessment, policies and documentation happen in the first weeks of the engagement. If you already have policies in place, onboarding is lighter and we will reflect that when we quote.
How long does it take to onboard a DPO?
Typically 1–2 weeks. We’ll review your current compliance status, meet with your team, and establish our oversight protocols.
AI Compliance
What is AI governance and do we need it?
AI governance is how you keep control of the AI tools your business uses: knowing which tools are in use, what data each touches, who approved them, and where a human has to check the output. We do not sell it as a separate service. There is a free guide and four templates on our AI governance page, and the practical side is covered inside AI Training, because a policy nobody has practised is a document rather than a control.
How is AI governance different from PDPA compliance?
The PDPA covers personal data generally, and your obligations under it do not change because the tool is an AI one. AI governance is the narrower question of controlling the tools themselves: which are approved, what staff may put into them, and when output must be verified. In practice they overlap most at the point a staff member pastes customer data into a public AI tool, which is a disclosure to a third party.
Do we need AI governance as well as PDPA compliance?
If you use AI tools on any personal data, yes, but not as two purchases. Your PDPA obligations are met through the outsourced DPO engagement. AI governance is covered by our free guide and templates, and the behaviour side is taught in AI Training.
